How
to read the six columns in the chart:
1.
"%Tested" is the state's calculation of the percent of a school's
student body that took the Standardized Testing and Reporting
(STAR) test last spring.
2.
"API" is the school's Academic Performance Index, a score of between
200 and 1,000 based on the STAR test.
3.
Based on its API, each school was grouped with other schools who
performed similarly. Each group was given a state ranking: a "1"
represents those schools which scored in the bottom 10 percent;
a "10" represents those schools which scored in the 90 to 99 percent
level.
4.
Using eight factors, the state determined which schools were "similar"
and compared them to one another, ranking them in 10 levels. Once
again, a "1" represents a low score and a "10" represents a high
score.
5.
This number represents the percentage of children who were tested
who are English language-learners.
6.
This number represents the percentage of students who are economically
disadvantaged.
